The best bridal shower games split cleanly into two types: the ones that put the bride in the spotlight, and the ones that let guests compete against each other. A good shower needs both, or either the bride is on display the whole time or she's barely involved in her own party.
Put the bride at the center first
Start with a Who Knows the Bride Best quiz, where she answers a set of questions first and guests guess her answers. Pair it with a Who Said It? round built from real quotes from the bride and her partner, which only works if you collect their answers ahead of time, so get that quiz out a week or two before the shower, not at the door.
Then let the room compete
A purse hunt is a reliable crowd-pleaser: call out everyday items (a hairbrush, a safety pin, a photo of your partner) and guests dig through their bags for points, five to twenty depending on how obscure the item is. Nobody has to perform, nobody has to know the bride well, and it rewards the guest who happens to be carrying the weirdest stuff in her bag.
Save the dress game for when the energy is already up
The toilet paper wedding dress contest, where teams build a dress out of toilet paper on one volunteer, is the loudest, funniest game of the day and works best once people are warmed up and not worried about being first to volunteer. Give teams five to seven minutes, then have the bride judge.
Quizzes for the quieter stretches
A word scramble, a wedding traditions trivia round and a famous couples quiz, each with its own answer key, are easy to drop in whenever the room needs something lower-key, especially while food is out.
Gift bingo during gift opening
The slowest part of any shower is watching gifts get unwrapped one at a time. Gift bingo (squares for "gets something lacy," "gets a gift card") gives guests a reason to actually watch instead of checking their phones, and running a few different card layouts keeps one person from winning too early.
Running the shower
Send the Know the Bride and Who Said It? quizzes out ahead of time so her answers are ready. Open with quizzes and trivia as guests arrive, run the purse hunt once most people have shown up, save the dress contest for the main event, and let gift bingo carry the gift-opening stretch. Leave advice cards, date night idea cards and recipe cards out on a table so guests can fill them in for the bride whenever they have a minute.
Our Bridal Shower Games kit has all of this ready to go: eight shower games including the Purse Hunt and the toilet paper wedding dress contest, three quizzes with answer keys, six gift bingo cards and keepsake cards, for 8 to 40 guests.
